Job Description:

Reporting to the Vice President, U.S. Medical (USM), this role is responsible for providing strategic leadership, development and direction for the Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) function, particularly the US National Field and Scientific Directors, as well as helping to drive alignment across USM functions, and with key cross-functional stakeholders with respect to planning, decision making and communication carried out by the Field teams across all the therapeutic areas.

This individual will work closely with the leadership of US Medical, to develop and drive strategy and tactics for the field medical team under his/her direction. This individual will also have direct responsibility for leading the National Field Directors, who lead the MSLs within their respective therapeutic or expertise areas.

The ideal candidate will have the acumen to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously, mixing long-term strategic planning with the urgency of immediate demands of the US Medical field organization. S/he must also have the demonstrated ability to deal with highly confidential information and act as be a liaison and trusted business partner between the leadership of US Medical, and other constituencies, both internal and external. It is strongly preferred that this position is based in the US Affiliate headquarters but field based s could be considered.

Responsibilities:

-Provides strategic leadership, direction, and planning for US Medical Field initiatives and training, formulates policy and program work that supports USM objectives and strategies. Facilitates strategic alignment and key communication points between USM sub-functional teams (Medical Directors, MSL's, MVBO/MVLs, Innovation & External Partnerships, Medical Excellence and Operations).

-Develops operating rules of engagement within USM field organization and cross-functional teams (as needed) to ensure that deliverables are achieved in a proactive appropriate and compliant manner, in support of USM mission and vision.

- Acts as a liaison between US Medical field organization and various constituencies, (including frequent interactions with key stakeholders in Global Medical and Commercial organizations) and represents US Medical at various meetings.

-Prioritizes issues, drives decision making and ensures cross-functional integration of key initiatives, in conjunction with the leadership of USM.

-Provides leadership to and development of the USM field MSL team, focusing on the Leadership of the MSL Field Team. Drives consensus and alignment among diverse group of key stakeholders within USM and across BIIB organizations to ensure that US Medical MSL field and the overall USM goals and objectives are achieved.

-Further develops and communicates the MSL's value proposition as needed throughout the BIIB organization to ensure that it is understood and the MSLs are seen as a trusted partner.
