Job Description:

The Associate Director/Director of Medical Value Based Outcomes (MVBO) in US Medical will lead the assigned therapeutic area(s) in the execution of health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) strategies to demonstrate the value proposition of medicines to enable optimal market access, reimbursement and brand growth for lifecycle management. This person will provide leadership and expertise in health outcomes and pharmacoeconomics as well as US payer landscape within US Medical as well as with internal cross-functional partners (Worldwide Medical, Global and US Market Access, Commercial, Legal, Regulatory, Clinical). This person will ensure appropriate integration and coordination of HEOR strategies and activities into the engagement with internal and external customer stakeholders to support the value proposition of Biogen products in the US market. The person will lead the communication and dissemination of HEOR evidence within the TA area to ensure quality, visibility and impact to inform payer decision-makers. This person will proactively monitor and analyze the state of the art in health outcomes research/CER on a continued basis and will maintain a high level network of contacts with managed market key decision makers, Health Economics and Outcomes Researchers, and Payer Opinion Leaders.

More specific responsibilities include:


- Primary contact and lead for assigned TA strategies, research collaborations and dissemination with internal cross-functional partners and external customers

- Strategic oversight to ensure that the US MVBO product strategies and tactical goals integrate the evolving needs of existing and emerging payers as well as Payer Opinion Leaders. A critical element of responsibility is to be the principal liaison with internal cross-functional teams (field MVBO team, Global Market Access, US and Global Medical Directors, US Market Access & Reimbursement) to translate customer value drivers into meaningful medical and outcomes research

- Designs and implements HEOR studies, including comparative effectiveness studies (CER), or economic models/tools, aligned with US and Global strategy, to assess unmet needs and gaps in evidence that affect US Payers to support optimal access and reimbursement of Biogen products

- Deliver on innovation and customer centric service through identification and delivery of innovative opportunities for building the medical value of marketed and pipeline products within the assigned TA

- Collaborate effectively with the Global Market Access team to develop BIM, CE models, retrospective claims analyses and/or prospective observational studies to address evidence needs for access and reimbursement

- Develop effective and innovative communication strategies and resources for internal and external audiences to ensure effective delivery of value propositions within the TA

- On-going analysis and assessment of the evidence required in the evolving healthcare landscape

- Collaborate with Clinical Development as a member of CTRB to provide the US payer perspective to include payer-related relevant endpoints where appropriate into the Clinical Development Program

- Manage the needs of multiple products within the TA from pipeline to marketed products, demonstrating the ability to handle competing priorities, address issues of multiple complexity and deliver to challenging timelines

- Provides strategic input and participates in US and Global publication planning to ensure a managed market focus and maximal leverage of HEOR evidence to secure market access and lifecycle management

- Manage 1 or more direct reports

Job Requirements:

Qualifications
-Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in health economics, health services research, outcomes research and/or related disciplines
- In-depth knowledge of US managed market and the biopharm industry including R&D, clinical, market access and commercial
- Expertise with pharmacoeconomic analyses, patient-reported outcomes, retrospective and prospective observational studies and their application to evaluate and deliver the value of medicines
- Effective leadership, presiding over meetings and driving consensus decision-making
- Ability to effectively operate in a highly matrixed organization, including excellent interpersonal and management skills through influencing
- Team player
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with strong project management abilities (e.g., contracting, budgeting, vendor management)
- Experience managing and developing talent Education
