Job Description:

As a member of the Public Affairs department, the Senior Manager, Advocacy Relations is responsible for conceptualizing, developing and facilitating the implementation of successful patient community-based initiatives that impact the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Hemophilia (HEM) communities in the US and ensure Biogen's reputation, mission and business directives are optimally maintained.
In this role, the Senior Manager will report to the Advocacy Relations Director, and work closely with the Advocacy Relations, Public Policy and Government Affairs and Public Affairs teams to lead engagement initiatives between Biogen and patient advocacy groups, champion the patient perspective across internal functional groups and develop innovative solutions and programs to meet the dynamic needs of the and patient community. The Senior Manager will also actively participate in the strategic planning of activities.

QualificationsResponsibilities:
-Create, implement and measure the success of comprehensive patient community relations activities such as National MS Society Walks and fundraisers, Muckfest, National Hemophilia Walks, etc. Manage and coordinate all community events as well as related internal employee engagement Ensure that all timelines are met and logistical elements are complete to ensure exceptional event experience o Manage overall advocacy relations budget o Serve as the point person for key advocacy community events, define and organize Biogen's presence and ensure strong participation.
- Create and maintain an organizational calendar of advocacy activities reaching the MS and HEM community
- Attend patient community focused events supported by Biogen for the MS and HEM communities o Represent the company at all major events o Monitor events to make sure all tangible benefits are provided
-Manage internal processes to ensure smooth interactions between external organizations and Biogen's systems (Grant Approval System, as well as PRC)
-Create and maintain Advocacy Relations metrics/dashboard to track impact of efforts appropriately Education
-Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with five years related career experience in the fields of advocacy relations, public relations, communications, event management, or related fields
-Knowledge of the biotech industry, with an understanding of Compliance and FDA regulations that impact advocacy and communications
-MS, Hemophilia or rare disease experience preferred
-Outstanding public speaking and presentation skills
-Demonstrated success working in a matrix environment with diverse groups/functions, working with complex programs and teams and ability to define and execute programs
-Creative problem solver and driver of innovation
