Senior Sourcing Manager - Medical Device

Job Description:

This is a global, strategic sourcing position responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for multiple Technical categories of spend, within medical device, that deliver value to the business by reducing risk, improving quality, and reducing costs. This includes collaborating with cross function team of category managers and analysts to develop sourcing strategies, execute the sourcing process and negotiate contracts for the majority of spend in each Technical sub-category to meet client needs as well as corporate imperatives (eg, social responsibility, diversity, compliance, savings, etc.).

In addition, this position is expected to build and/or sustain relationships with their respective senior management clients to ensure Sourcing is aligned with their objectives and is viewed as a trusted business advisor for all major outsourced services. This includes leading sourcing governance committees and development/execution of major sourcing strategies.

1. Client Engagement. Lead client engagement efforts at the senior management level (eg, sourcing councils) to ensure Sourcing is aligned with their objectives, while securing their sponsorship to meet corporate imperatives (eg, social responsibility, diversity, compliance, savings, etc.) and to assign subject-matter experts to participate in sourcing projects. Regularly solicit feedback from project-level stakeholders to ensure Sourcing is performing well and continuously improving.
2. Development and execution of sourcing strategies. For major outsourcing initiatives, lead the development and execution of robust sourcing strategies that deliver breakthrough value to the organization. This includes identifying and leading cross-functional teams, developing and managing the sourcing implementation plans, and performing all business-related functions of the sourcing initiative, negotiating contracts, and transitioning to the business units for physical implementation.
3. Category maintenance. This includes contract life-cycle management (eg, renewing expiring contracts, updating pricing annually, etc.), category databases (eg, refreshing internal business requirement/impact metrics, supplier capabilities database, etc.), scanning the marketplace for changes and managing any known or potential business impact and developing risk mitigation plans.
4. Continuous Improvement. This includes both department/category business process improvements (eg, enhancements to the sourcing process, development or revision of key sourcing procedures, documenting processes, etc.) and personal development.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years experience.
- Minimum of 5 years negotiating a variety contracts.
- Minimum of 3 years project management experience.
- Minimum of 3 years working in a client-facing or customer service role (eg, consulting, supply chain, etc.)
- Experience in the Medical Device / Biotech / Pharmaceutical industry and knowledge of R&D, Technical and Product Development functions and GxPs is strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a matrix environment with indirect reporting structures.
- Professional expertise in strategic sourcing and preferably category subject matter expertise (Product Development / Medical Device Development) strongly preferred.
- Operations, supply chain, biotech/pharma, GMP's are preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with business unit clients that the category supports (many of which are technical in nature), Excellent presentation skills
- Enhancement and execution of processes and procedures
- Regularly contributes to development of new or enhancement of existing business process methodologies and tools.
- Initiates new project proposals in pursuit of corporate, divisional and business unit objectives. Education
