Biogen's Specialty Medicines Group is responsible for late stage development and commercialization of our portfolio of medicines for disease areas such as multiple sclerosis (MS) and inflammatory bowel disease. This role is for Director, Brand Strategy on the Specialty Asset Team.

As Director, Brand Strategy you will report directly to the VP, Brand Asset Team with a matrixed reporting relationship to the Senior Director and Commercial Lead within the Brand Asset Team. You will lead development and rollout of the Brand's 5-year strategy and lead Commercial efforts for Brand lifecycle management. In this role you will closely collaborate with other members of the Brand Asset Team, Global Medical, Global Market Access, and a range of local Commercial Affiliates.

Deliverables for the Director, Brand Strategy include:


- 5-Year global brand strategy
o In collaboration with Medical, Market Access, and local Commercial partners, lead the process and be the primary thought leader to annually update the 5-year brand strategy.
o Align with brand strategy leadership from other Biogen MS Asset Teams to ensure consistency and strategic alignment with MS Franchise strategy
o Lead rollout efforts to local affiliates and Asset Team partners to ensure the global brand strategy is understood and implemented appropriately
o Development of 18-month execution guidance on how to translate strategy to execution for local affiliates


- Lifecycle Management
o Understand Commercial needs and advocate for studies, publications and product enhancements that optimize the profitability of brand over the lifespan of the product
o Create business cases that support major Brand investment decisions


- Other Responsibilities
o Lead the Brand Communications team, including working with all relevant functional and regional teams to coordinate communication responses to label changes, emerging data at congresses, competitive events and publications.
o Global liaison for two to three key affiliate markets, ensuring clear communication about appropriate execution of global strategy, as well as developing a deep knowledge and awareness of ongoing market dynamics in those affiliates.
o Build a strong command of and share Asset Team responsibility for the Brand P&L.
o Support of all other team activities, including building of annual tactical plans, competitive response planning, and contribution to all other commercial projects through participation, critical feedback, and problem solving.

- Passion and experience in product pharmaceutical product marketing and commercialization
- Demonstrated strategic competency and intellectual curiosity. Skilled at eliciting and synthesizing ideas and concerns from widely diverse perspectives, and identifying key insights.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively with both medical personnel and executives.
- Ability to develop relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, both internal and external
- Interpersonal skills and ability to lead, inspire and influence within a matrix
- Ability to influence without direct authority
