Job Description:

The Neuroimmunology Research group is seeking independent and motivated Senior Associate Scientist to contribute to research activities whose primary goals will be to better understand the biological pathways altered in neurodegenerative diseases to support target validation and drug development. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and carrying out in vivo and in vitro studies to explore disease biology and mechanisms of action of therapeutic drug candidates.

- Solid experience in preclinical models of neurodegenerative diseases with excellent hands-on capabilities working with rodents and conducting surgical techniques is a must-have

- Experience in CNS primary cell culture and assays is preferable

- Experience in CNS histology is a plus

- Knowledge in molecular and cellular techniques such as RNA isolation, gene expression, flow cytometry is a plus

- Independently review relevant literature to understand and propose the best methods that can be applied to the needs of the group.

- Keep abreast of, and use, state-of-the-art of in vivo models and technologies.

- Prepare, review and deliver scientific presentations for internal/external use.

Other skills:

- Ability to collaborate and work in a matrixed environment.

- Ability to conduct independent research and be a team player.

- Comfortable with changing direction and taking risks.

- Ability to independently trouble shoot technical hurdles and problem solve when met with negative results.

Qualifications1. A strong track record of experience with in vivo models of disease is essential. 2. Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of experimental design, underlying scientific principles, and the ability to independently assess results. 3. Demonstrated a track record of providing support activities for different research projects, and contributed as an author to peer-reviewed publications. 4. The position requires excellent communication skills and ability to present data, and the ability and willingness to work effectively in a highly collaborative research environment.
