Job Description:

The Associate Director of External Partnerships, Collaborative Medical Sciences, Worldwide Medical is responsible for supporting and leading the External Partnership team in the development and the execution of the external stakeholder strategy within global medical, tracking progress of key plan deliverables, and other team specific projects.
Specific responsibilities include:

-Lead the development of the overall Key External Stakeholder strategy in specific Franchise/Therapeutic areas with emphasis on business defined disease states.

-Establish a cross function team to determine guiding principles for developing collaborative partnership plans for GM External Stakeholders aligned to the company's strategic imperatives.


-Assist developmental sciences and new product commercialization teams to identify the right experts in therapeutic areas in which BIIB has limited experience.


-Ensure that external stakeholders fully understand BIIB's commitment to improving the lives of patients through its portfolio of therapeutic interventions.


-Forge internal relationships through communication and the provision of value-added services.


-Serve as the internal GM spokesperson for assigned external stakeholder, academic centers, healthcare organizations by gathering and disseminating pertinent information to appropriate internal organization to inform strategic decisions

-Facilitate the adoption of the external planning approach framework with regional offices, and local affiliates to ensure team is provided necessary support for stakeholder planning and engagement.


-Serve as an Expert consultant and point person on external stakeholder planning approach strategy and methodologies for the following functional areas: GMAX, market access, clinical development science, GCO and new product commercialization.


-Lead the development of external stakeholder identification for new pipeline programs.


-Oversees vendor and contractor management.


-Lead the global cross-functional program team meetings, including leading discussions to drive to effective decision-making.


-Facilitate the adoption of the external planning approach framework with regional offices, and local affiliates to ensure team is provided necessary support for stakeholder planning and engagement.


-Ensure strict compliance and risk management so that BIIB is appropriately positioned within medical, allied health, academic, and community organizations and networks, and ensure all activities are implemented according to applicable healthcare policy.

Qualifications
-Excellent oral and written communications skills with an ability to efficiently and productively interact with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholder.
-Demonstrated accomplishment in the development, maintenance and advancement of external partnerships.
-Track record of success working with or within medical, allied health, academic and community. practice based organization providing health care services to targeted populations.
-Demonstrated ability to lead a team of diversified skills and experience.
-Ability to lead and drive consensus across cross-functional teams.
-Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and present complex and /or new ideas with clarity and simplicity.
-High degree of self-motivation and enthusiasm to carve out role and pro-actively engage with external stakeholders.
-Demonstrated experience in leading the development and execution of external stakeholder strategy.
-Domestic and International Travel required (~25%) Education
-Bachelor's Degree required
