Job Overview:
This newly created Value Based Medicine (VBM) role will lead critical elements of a learning health system demonstration project as part of a multi-disciplinary team across multiple institutions. This demonstration project will explore new technologies to generate, collect, and present patient data seamlessly within the clinical practice setting. The goal of this demonstration project is to explore innovative ways to learn from clinical practice and generate insights that can be used to inform decision making at the point of care. This position will report into Director, Value Based Medicine, who is leading the overall network strategy for Biogen. This role requires a talented individual with proven expertise in driving large complex initiatives/projects.

Main Accountabilities:

- Support the Director, VBM in developing effective and innovative solutions for new clinical research paradigms to improve MS patient outcomes in close collaboration with other stakeholders

- Accountable for development and execution of project level strategy

- Ensures implementation of program level operational strategy through influencing and supporting a matrix team

- Responsible for primary partner management at select partner institutions including contract negotiation and coordination with other matrix team members

- Point of contact for integration of program implementation for partner institutions

- Serve as an advocate for the overall collaboration with a partner institution. Actively mitigate complex business, technical, and relationship issues to the mutual satisfaction of both Biogen and partner institution

- Manage Biogen clinical implementation team including at least one direct report

- Prioritizes issues, drives decision making and ensures cross-functional integration within Biogen clinical implementation team

- Responsible creation of integrated training materials for the demonstration project and manage updates

- Scientifically astute with a high degree of learning agility
- Must possess a unique combination of strategic perspective / critical thinking, organizational savvy and operational know-how and efficiency, with a demonstrated ability to link strategy and execution to drive value
- Managerial courage and proven effectiveness within matrix structures.
- Track record of driving difficult decision making.
- Ability to lead and influence a matrix team without authority.
- Strong project management skills including risk assessment and contingency planning.
- Ability to communicate effectively to a broad array of stakeholders (e.g. academic partners, Biogen Idec senior management).
