Job Description:

The Associate Medical Director/ Medical Director is new position within Medical Research reporting to Senior Director in the MS Clinical Development Group and leads the translational research efforts in MS with a focus in CNS repair and remyelination. The talented new team member will provide strategic leadership for clinical programs within this area.

The exceptional neurologist that we seek will be responsible for:

- Oversee development of clinical activities across drug development studies in CNS repair and remyelination in collaboration with the clinical development teams (CDT).

- Integrate the scientific rationale, regulatory requirements, product development plan, and commercial goals to build a solid strategic framework for Clinical Development Plans (CDP).

- Establish appropriately clinical development timelines, incorporating key decision points and Go/No Go criteria for each CDP.

- Collegially lead strategic initiatives and clinical program teams, including Medical Directors, Clinical Operation Leaders (COLs) and / or Clinical Scientific Leads (CSLs).

- Manage clinical program budgets within stated financial goals.

- Develop and maintain relationships with program counterparts in Global Clinical Operations (GCO), New Product Commercialization, Payor's Group, Research, Regulatory, and Medical Affairs.

- Contribute to the development of strategic initiatives and specified Business Development activities.

- Represent Biogen at various scientific meetings.

Job Requirements:

- MD combined with sub specialty training in Neurology
- Postdoctoral training with a research component a strong plus
- Two to five years experience in clinical or laboratory research required
- Drug development experience a plus, particularly in Neurology or Neuroscience.
- Highly relationship and collaboratively oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with colleagues as a solo contributor, on a team or in a leadership position.
- Demonstrated ability to lead directly or by influence combined with strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability in strategic and critical thinking
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Publications in peer reviewed journals required
