Marketing Operations is one of five teams located at the global center within Global Brand & Marketing (GBM) at MetLife. This team enables the company's practice of global marketing by creating the structures and frameworks necessary to efficiently manage finite resources (e.g., budgets, people, time, management attention, etc.) against the company's top marketing priorities to drive success. This small team of highly engaged and capable professionals is led by the VP, Marketing Operations/Chief of Staff for the company's Global Chief Marketing Officer and often operates as an extension of the office of the CMO with an expansive and exciting view of MetLife's marketing initiatives across the full Enterprise.

Job Description

The Marketing Operations team develops and leads the implementation and adoptions of tools, processes and programs designed to:

  • Ensure that the company's marketing priorities are clearly aligned with its business priorities

  • Marshal continuous focus on key strategic priorities

  • Foster integration, prioritization and coordination of marketing efforts across MetLife's nearly 50 geographic markets and vertically between global, regional and local level teams

  • Realize synergies and resource savings by discovering overlaps, efficiencies and opportunities for cross-market cooperation

  • Ensure appropriate allocation of the organization's resources to support business needs

  • Develop the business acumen and continuous improvement of marketing capability within MetLife's marketing teams at the local, regional and global levels.

Key responsibilities:

The Director of Marketing Operations reports to the VP, Marketing Operations/Chief of Staff to the Global CMO and plays a critical role in enabling truly global marketing with scale, efficiency and the sharing of best practices across MetLife's geographic markets. The incumbent is responsible for:

  • Designing, developing and managing a central digital hub to engage MetLife's newly established global community of marketers

    • Partnering with marketing leaders from the global center, regional and local teams in the development of global marketing tools, guidelines and assets

    • Leading the development of a central digital hub ("brand center") to empower the global marketing community by facilitating process and encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing

    • Managing and continuously improving the brand center and its tools

  • Creating not only marketing tools, but processes, channels and routines to foster the global marketing community

    • Developing knowledge-sharing, cooperation and collaboration events, routine work processes, recognition opportunities

    • Establishing forums and "networks" and actively ensure that people participate

    • Continuously seeking opportunities for collaboration and sharing of knowledge and assets to leverage the global scale of MetLife

  • Partnering with GBM's Customer Experience team in the development of a global asset management system and maintaining its good order

  • Managing the rights and renewals for all of MetLife's original and licensed marketing assets so that they can be deployed by the entire global marketing community (e.g., talent rights, artwork, copyrights, etc.)

    • Advising MetLife's marketers at the global, regional and local levels on rights considerations when creating new marketing materials for the company

  • Lead ad hoc special project at the request of the VP, Marketing Operations/Chief of Staff

Job Requirements:

Business Knowledge/Technical Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in marketing. Experience in global marketing organizations a big plus.

  • Strong project management skills. Experience in projects leveraging technology highly preferred.

  • Entrepreneurial, can-do spirit and ability to work and thrive in an evolving and fast paced environment

  • Strong organizational skills, able to multi-task effectively

  • Strong results-orientation

  • Demonstrates a strong attention to detail
