Summary of Responsibilities: The Head of International Compliance Operations will report directly to the Head of International Compliance with oversight of over forty country compliance programs globally. The role supports global Compliance programs, processes, people and systems. The role also has direct managerial oversight of the International Compliance Office and its team of three Compliance Officers.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manages, coaches, and develops personnel involved in the creation, communication, and implementation of strategic business plans and initiatives.

  • Initiates and facilitates planning process within the organization, often with senior level officers at the planning board level.

  • Translates senior management vision into a department -wide vision and strategy, with service level and business objectives as goals. Communicates vision and strategy to staff within department.

  • Proposes, evaluates and implements process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Identifies, locates and provides needed training and resources.

  • Partners with other operational areas to build strong working relations and improve workflow and organizational issues.

  • Directs the management of IT application portfolios and the preparation of ROI analyses.

  • Directs the collection of data and the analysis of very complex analyses such as cost projections, feasibility studies, benchmark comparisons, and performance analyses.

  • Analyses information and makes recommendations and present results to senior management.

  • Oversees budget and expense functions. Analyses results and presents recommendations to management.

  • Oversees the development and refinement of performance measures and/or reengineering processes.

  • Forecasts and monitors the budget for areas of responsibility.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

  • Full people management responsibility, including hiring, firing, promotions, performance and compensation management, and training and development

  • Overseeing compliance control initiatives by developing, implementing, and following up on very complex corrective and proactive action plans.
  • Coordinating with the CRM Team and Operational Risk Enhancement Group (OREG) team members to achieve effective operational risk management between control partners.

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of business operations, planning, budgeting, re-engineering, and performance measures.

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills required, including the ability to work effectively and influence others beyond direct control, across organizational levels, Countries and Cultures.
  • Capability to drive results under aggressive timelines while maintaining engagement of direct reports and related stakeholders.
  • 10+ years of relevant business experience in the financial services industry or in insurance operations, and 5 + years previous experience leading people.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Competencies: Interpersonal Skills, verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills, sound business judgment, leadership and coaching skills, analytical, and organizational skills.

The role has direct impact on and oversight of the International Compliance budget. Further, the role will impact global people management through talent initiatives as well as direct oversight of the International Compliance Office. The role will help to retain and attract top talent globally.

Travel

  • The role may require limited international travel as well as non-standard working hours to support 40+ international operations from Latin America, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia.
