This position is responsible for the leadership and operation of the Western US. The position has accountability for participation in the development and execution of claim model strategies as well as development, implementation and follow thorough of initiatives to deliver on the long term disability claim model. Key responsibilities include: claim management accuracy, people development, quality, customer centricity, flawless compliance responsibilities, meeting and exceeding performance guarantees, and expense management and relationships with all partners. This role is responsible for advancing productive and positive culture and influencing staff engagement and development.

Responsibilities include:

  • Accountable for the overall operational effectiveness of the LTD Operations.
  • Participates in the creation of the overall claims strategy.
  • Provides leadership and direction in the execution of the claim management accuracy strategies to optimize claim management accuracy by leveraging fundamental claim management accuracy principles and skills.
  • Responsible for proactive identification of trends and opportunities that may impact claim management accuracy and the customer experience, implementing actions to maintain consistency in delivery.
  • Responsible for influencing and leading a culture of claim professionalism and associate centricity, ownership and customer centricity.
  • Executes on the operational strategies of the organization to achieve improved claim management and operating results from a quality and productivity perspective.
  • Responsible for managing the expenses against plan of the operations for which this individual would be responsible.
  • Responsible for the overall staffing and headcount within defined budget.
  • Responsible for effective hiring and selection of talent as well as retention within normal levels.
  • Responsible for achieving and exceeding operational metrics related to claim accuracy, customer centricity, performance guarantee and compliance, expenses, retention, and customer persistency.
  • Responsible for Operating Budget with significant impact through claim accuracy, litigation, regulatory exposure and persistency.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven record of experience effectively leading large organizations.
  • 8-12 years minimum of experience within Disability Claims Industry strongly preferred, including leadership of large teams.
  • Accomplished change management leader, able to operate effectively in a highly matrix environment.
  • Proven ability to understand and work within complex environment (Summary Plan Descriptions, regulatory requirements, customer needs within the disability space).
  • Ability to translate strategy and drive implementation.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to review data, industry trends and information to implement and drive change.
  • Undergraduate degree strongly preferred and only not required when significant and demonstrably clear industry experience is present, MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
