THE ROLE:

  • High grade credit analyst focusing on Utilities and/or Midstream sectors, which includes 90 names and $11bb in exposure. The primary function is to analyze potential new issuers and existing holdings, and make proactive credit recommendations. Additionally, the high grade credit analyst will make presentations on sector strategy and trends, as needed.

Reports to: Director - Credit Research Utilities

Direct Reports: None

Other Key Stakeholders: Philip Varughese (Director of Research), Susan Young (Senior Analyst)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor industry/sector developments, providing industry input to help form relative value sector opinions in addition to company-specific opinions.
  • Recommendations are prepared in written form and orally presented to senior MetLife management.
  • Build relationships with street analysts, rating agencies and directly with the issuers, to assist in monitoring and analyzing credits and industries.
  • Compile data and other info from SEC filings, company and industry reports, investor meetings, rating agencies, and other sources for analysis and written credit committee memos.
  • Build strong rapport with others in the Public Corporates Unit as well as across MetLife Investments.

Travel Requirements: Minimal

 

 

Job Requirements:

Business Knowledge/Technical Skills:

  • MBA in Accounting, Finance or related area, CFA preferred.
  • 5-7 years of credit experience.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, strong organizational skills.
  • Strong teamwork-driven attitude.
  • Strong skills, including the following demonstrable skills:
    • Strong accounting and/or financial analysis.
    • Knowledge of/experience in financial models and quantitative analysis.
    • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Strong decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and the proven ability to meet stringent time constraints.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg.
  • Working knowledge of Blackrock systems (PRISM, Galileo), a plus.
