Summary of Responsibilities

The primary role of the Managing Sales Director is to manage a detached office location and/or a team of Senior Sales Leaders and/or Sales Leaders, by driving the Firm's overall business objectives and building an efficient, profitable organization.Specific objectives include partnering with the Market Leader/Managing Director/Partner to manage the Firm's business plan and providing strategic direction to the Firm's Senior Sales Leaders and/or Sales Leaders. May partner with the Market Leader/Managing Director/Partner to manage the P&L for the firm and/or detached office location.These activities should be driven by the Firm's business plan and should be consistent with MetLife's business strategy.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Manages a detached office location and/or a team of Senior Sales Leaders and/or Sales Leaders by aligning strategic plans, reviewing operations, promoting MetLife's vision, values, and culture.

  • Drives sales, develops people by effectively communicating successes and opportunities and monitoring progress.

  • May manage and monitor P&L for the detached office location(s).

  • Leads Senior Sales Directors and/or Sales Leaders through strategic direction and coaching to ensure that Firm's goals are met and encourages a high-performance culture through accountability and effective administration.

  • Streamlines operations for optimal efficiencies for office location(s).

  • Develops the overall Firm's business strategy in partnerships with the Market Leader/Managing Director/Partner and aligns site objectives with Firm's long-term goals for recruiting, training, marketing, compliance, finance and operations.

  • Understands and communicates Firm objectives as outlined in the Firm business plan, and ensures that Senior Sales Leaders and/or Sales Leaders integrate the Firm's business plan into their Financial Services Representatives' individual business plans.

  • Connects regional and corporate resources for alignment with business plan ensuring appropriate level of support is provided to the Firm to achieve recruiting, marketing, training and teaming goals.

  • Responsible for recruiting and meeting Firm's objectives.Builds strong pipeline of experienced (EXP) recruits by sharing Centers of Influence and driving active recruiting strategies.

  • Clearly communicates performance expectations to Senior Sales Leaders and/or Sales Leaders and how those expectations will impact the Firm management's collective and individual compensation.

  • Develops regular communication and reporting plans to the Market Leader/Managing Director/Partner outlining progress to plans, open issues, updates on team performance, etc.

  • Assists in the enforcement of compliance rules and guidelines and partners with senior management, Compliance, Human Resources and Legal as appropriate.

  • Maintains a general knowledge of employment-related laws and seek guidance from Human Resources and Legal business partners as needed.

  • Acts as a FINRA supervising principal as delegated by Market Leader/Managing Director/ Partner when managing a registered detached site and fulfills all obligations as delegated.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • People management responsibility which includes performance evaluation, training and development

Job Requirements:

  • 2 years as a Financial Services Representative preferred, and 5 -10 years as a sales manager in an organization that is highly structured and has commission-based sales

  • Appropriate licensing and FINRA registration:Life and Health, Series 7, 24 and 66 or 63 and 65.

  • CLU, ChFC, CFP and/or other company-supported designation required.

  • Licenses and registrations necessary to sell products through MetLife and its affiliates.

  • Proven track record of success in financial services sales or sales management

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS degree preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically

  • Demonstrated strengths in problem-solving, management, leadership, communication, interpersonal and coaching skills.
