Summary of Responsibilities:

The Training instructor position is a part of MetLife Direct (MLD) Business Line. As a shared service, the candidate will support all of MLD, including Sales, Innovation, Business Integration, Marketing and Strategy and other functional partners. The core of this role is to foster and leverage knowledge about our current products and processes to partners and foster a philosophy of continuous learning & performance at the individual, team, and organizational levels. This role will design and deploy learning and development strategies which will enhance people, processes and performance and enable the team to achieve its business objectives and maintain its competitive advantage.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Conducts needs analyses, designs and deploys various learning solutions including curricula, performance support tools and job aids, instructor led training, web based training, blended learning programs, training schedules, and meeting facilitation in accordance with business unit strategies for MetLife Direct products: Life, Group (Life, Dental, Disability, Vision), Property & Casualty (Auto and Home), Accident & Health and Assistance products (like identity protection)
  • Design and deploy training on MLD processes including Innovation, Sales, Marketing, Underwriting, Business Integration & Strategy.
  • Design and create complex PowerPoint presentations to relay strategy, processes, partnerships etc.
  • Partners with business management to identify inconsistencies within business areas and initiates best practices/pilot programs for new solutions.
  • Creates, manages, and monitors learning project plans for assigned clients.
  • Creates monitors, analyzes and reports learning metrics to measure impact of training activities.
  • Facilitates and evaluates training program and provides training program feedback to trainers and management.
  • Lead development, coordination and distribution of training communications.
  • May conduct special projects designed to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the MetLife Direct business.

    Job Requirements:

    • Expert knowledge and experience using Microsoft PowerPoint and strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business related software. (Word, Excel, Publisher, Visio, SharePoint).
    • Must be able to communicate complex subject matter in clear and simple terms including: products & services, policy language by LOB, processes and procedures, technical skills, company position and industry trends, endorsements/exclusions, and state and/or regional differences.
    • Ability to lead and conduct effective classroom sessions in person and virtually and implement a proven instructional model in classroom.
    • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Adult Learning Theory, Instructional Technology, Educational Psychology, Human Resources, related field or equivalent with professional designation.
    • Minimum of 5-8 years of educational design/development and training experience.
    • Strong knowledge of learning design, instructional methods and training techniques including curriculum design principles, adult learning and blended learning theory and strategies, and the design and integration of online and other performance support tools into on-the-job use
    • Solid knowledge of insurance and non-insurance products (e.g. Individual and Group Insurance, Property & Casualty and Accident & Health products, processes and procedures.
    • Experience developing training for a variety of initiatives, including new strategies, changes to business processes, or technology implementations.
    • Proven ability to translate strategic goals into appropriate training and development program materials.
    • Exceptional facilitation skills on any topic.
    • Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external business partners.
