Technical Project Lead / Manager (Operations metrics / Data integration solutions)

In 2016, MetLife Global Operations Strategic Planning and Governance organization will begin a two year effort towards the development of an automated data integration solution between in-country / regional data sources and the global operational metrics data warehouse. In addition, the organization will more broadly roll-out a QlikView report visualization tool for use by regional and global leadership. The objective of the Global Operations metrics program is to simplify, streamline and automate the collection, validation, calculation and reporting of metrics that are critical to managing the business. Through the enhancement of the quality and standardization of data, in addition to decreased time to production, operations metrics can be leveraged towards the creation of more timely and accurate executive management reports.

The Technical Project Lead will drive the analysis, design and development of the data integration solution(s) including the report presentation layer. The role will require regular interaction with local, regional and global IT and operations stakeholders to understand how critical data is sourced and how it can be collected. The resource will be responsible to gain stakeholder trust and buy-in throughout all phases of the SDLC lifecycle. The resource will be expected to secure the resources needed for delivery, escalate issues and anticipate project specific risks to ensure timely and on-budget implementations. Excellent communication skills will be required to all levels and the resource should be comfortable explaining analyses and recommendations to both operations and technical resources. This position is integral to helping transform the Global Technology & Operations organization and becoming a trusted partner to our business stakeholders.

Summary of responsibilities:

  • Coordinates with partners to deliver value and realization of clear business benefits as defined under the Global Operations Metrics initiative

  • Leads combined operations and IT work streams in the delivery of automated metrics production solution, working closely with our development partners to develop and track release milestones and schedules

  • Develops strategy for the efficient and timely analysis of data source solutions for all countries and regions MetLife conducts business

  • Collaborate with Global IT partners to understand acceptable integration solutions employed throughout MetLife globally

  • Builds relationships with business and IT data coordinators and architects

  • Identifies and coordinates with appropriate operations and IT partners across various geographies to ensure alignment on solution delivery, development and deployment activities

  • Plans, communicates and engages the appropriate operations and IT stakeholders across geographies to contribute to the testing of integration solutions within various environments (e.g., Dev, QA, Production)

  • Establishes a post-deployment system support strategy to ensure continuity of the collection and production of operations metrics

  • Ensures communication, coordination of activities, and issue resolution amongst core team members, operations and IT stakeholders

  • Manage post-implementation progress tracking and administration as needed to ensure a functional customer solution

  • Contributes to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and partnership with a willingness to proactively coach, facilitate, share knowledge, and be the role model and advocate for a changing technology organization

Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years related work experience successfully managing large, complex projects

  • 5+ Years Complex Project/Program Management (Global, Enterprise)

  • Bachelor's degree

  • PMP within 1 year of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree (MBA, Business, or Technical)

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills, understands what it takes to deliver software with exposure to large-scale systems

  • Adept at leading distributed, global teams

  • Strong working knowledge of LEAN/Sigma theories and principles in application

  • Knowledge of virtual collaboration tools/knowledge sharing tools (SharePoint, Yammer, other)

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical abilities.
