Directs team responsible for analyzing, developing, recommending and forecasting end-to-end IT infrastructure capacity based on business demand and application requirements. The successful candidate for this role will have a strong background in capacity planning and forecasting at an enterprise scale and will look to drive continuous improvement in the process.

This role will also have full people management responsibility, including hiring, firing, promotions, performance and compensation management, and training & development.

List of responsibilities

  • Directs the design, implementation and maintenance of effective strategic and tactical Performance and Capacity Optimization forecasts and solutions
  • Directs recommendation of technology policy changes in accordance with corporate objectives and business driven initiatives
  • Directs the formulation, evaluation and review of long range planning objectives on the basis of Capacity and Performance management principles. Directs and manages the engineering design and implementation of the enterprise's performance and capacity disciplines
  • Directs performance or capacity related engineering projects, testing and evaluation programs. Manages project and infrastructure financials and forecasting
  • Responsible for the promotion and implementation of capacity & performance solutions and directs the establishment of annual hardware utilization trends and forecasting methodologies

Job Requirements:

Required expertise

  • 5+ years of experience in all phases of systems management, capacity planning, forecasting and/or performance analysis with previous management experience
  • 5+ years effectively communicating verbally or via written reports with all levels of management
  • 5+ years minimum experience in managing engineers in capacity and performance analysis disciplines
  • 5+ years understanding of IBM hardware - Power P6/P7, PureFlex and x86 hardware
  • 5+ years general knowledge of systems, operations, security, network and storage management processes and their interdependencies and implementations

Preferred experience

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred or years of equivalent work experience required
  • Good knowledge of performance or capacity terminology (e.g. utilization, paging, caching, etc.)
  • Experience with forecasting and financial impact analytics
  • Experience with capacity planning tools such as Cirba, VRealize or VMTurbo
