LOB/ Global Function: The Channels & Integration organization is focused on Software Engineering within the Marketing Technology domain. The Marketing Technology department provides best-in-class digital and marketing platform solutions to enable key enterprise digital strategies at the global level for MetLife, in close partnership with Global Brand & Marketing and with regional application development organizations.

THE ROLE: Acting as both a strategist and technology platforms expert, the objective of this role is to lead and support all efforts relating to the design, development, and management of MetLife marketing capabilities on a global level. This includes developing an engineering team responsible for providing end-to-end project governance, and establishing a shared service platform offering for both technology and marketing partners globally. The AVP of Marketing Technology Platform Engineering will be responsible for managing multiple development teams ranging in size, with a total resource scope of roughly 20 FTEs plus 80 contractors. The AVP will provide industry best practice expertise, strategic platform guidance, build high-performing development teams, and influence technology strategy on a global level.

Other Key Stakeholders: Provide technical leadership across EAD and RAD, collaborating closely with Architecture to modernize platform capabilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Marketing Applications: Configuring, operating and integrating a wide range of on premise and SaaS applications, with a focus on Web Experience Management, Omnichannel view of the customer, Targeting & Personalization, Offers Management and Cross/Up-sell, Lead Routing, Social, and other related customer experience platforms.
  • Software Development: Manage the SDLC, provide thought leadership and best practices in relevant application frameworks, programming languages and development methodologies, including Agile.
  • Technology Selection: Documenting business requirements and expected outcomes, and mapping these to appropriate technologies and solutions, conducting RFPs and issuing recommendations/proposals for selection.
  • Organization Management: Lead and mentor a team of 20 employees and 70 contractors globally, define team priorities and resource allocations develop vendor statements of work, and build a world-class Marketing Technology shared-services practice.
  • Collaboration: Provide a global perspective to the definition of platform offerings, drive collaboration across regional and local technology teams, and partner with Global Brand & Marketing to align capabilities to business objectives and operating models.
  • Innovation: Provide thought leadership and create an environment that fosters innovation and a test & learn culture.

Business Knowledge/Technical Skills:

  • 15+ years of experience in software engineering and/or software architecture experience.
  • 7+ years of experience focused in two or more of the following Marketing Technology domains: Web Experience Management, Campaign Management, E-commerce, Testing & Optimization, or Data Management Platforms.
  • 5+ years of experience managing teams.
  • 1+ year(s) implementing at least one of the following platforms: SDL Tridion, Adobe Marketing Cloud, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Sitecore, Acquia.

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in a related technology discipline.
