Job Description:

The TAM Unit Leader will ensure that the team achieves or exceeds its business objectives in the areas of Claim Management Accuracy, Customer Centricity and Expense Management. Sets clear expectations of performance according to the MetLife vision and holds the team accountable to those expectations. Ensures that the team has the knowledge, skills, and tools to be successful and provides support as appropriate.

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Anticipates, resolves and responds to TAM claim problems or productivity issues.
  • Works with customers to negotiate, arbitrate, and resolve issues, concerns, and expectations regarding process, service and performance guarantees.
  • Accountable for ensuring team performance with delivery on customer commitments and high quality claim decisions.
  • Acts as a project lead and /or participates in various project assignments
  • Conducts quality management reviews to ensure financial and decisional accuracy - identify training opportunities and process improvements as outcomes.
  • Respond to employee and employer inquiries regarding the status or availability of FML and Company leave
  • Promptly review new FMLA and Company Leaves (Bereavement, Jury Duty, Etc...) notices and act upon them within documented timeline standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Full people management responsibilities, including hiring, firing, promotions, performance and compensation management, and training and development.

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of experience in disability claims

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 7+ years of claims experience
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Working knowledge TAM products
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to support a strong customer service experience for the Leave process
  • Knowledge of medical procedures and Terminology
  • Proficient in use of multiple systems and technology resources
  • Ability to read, interpret and explain contracts and TAM plans
