Summary of Responsibilities

Work in close partnership with the Managing Partner and other members of the management team to ensure the Agency provides superior service to Financial Services Representatives (FSRs) and clients in a compliant and financially efficient manner - while maintaining decision making capabilities. Oversee all day to day operations, which will allow the Managing Sales Directors and Agency Directors to concentrate on recruiting, in- the-field training, increasing productivity, retention and profitability of the Firm.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Direct responsibility for compliance in the Firm. Be actively involved, and provide oversight to Assistant Manager - Operations, in monitoring and maintaining compliance official detached offices and registered sites.

  • Serve as back up FINRA Principal for the Firm - assume the FINRA responsibilities for any detached sites where an FINRA principal is required, but absent.

  • Oversee all issues associated with the acquisition of experienced managers and reps which includes, but is not limited to, compensation issues, leasing issues, building and furnishing new office space, transferring of licenses, setting up telephone and computer services, transferring of equity business and introducing of new associates to the MetLife environment.

  • Direct responsibility for the development and implementation of the Firm's annual business plan and budgets. It is the Director - Operations' responsibility to make sure the Firm stays within prescribed budgets.

  • Act as main liaison for handling all Home Office issues as they pertain to Ethics & Compliance, Licensing & Registration, Comp Planning & Payroll, Law department, Human Resources and Underwriting.

  • Oversee recruiting activities in the Firm. Provide oversight on employment files for new applicants, as well as in-house due diligence and in-house licensing programs to provide for an efficient and compliant hiring process.

  • Develop and maintain and effective recognition program for the Firm. Also, develop and maintain effective means for monitoring performance in the Firm to include such items as performance against the business plan, new rep validation requirements, measures that specifically impact management compensation, EAP & Trails requirements, minimum production and conference qualification.

  • Direct responsibility for monitoring and managing and "expense management" program. Work with Leasing Operations to "right size" all agency sites. Work with Agency Services & Tech to determine most efficient and effective computer set up for each of the numerous sites in the Firm.

  • Provide training to managers and producers (newly hired) on issues such as compensation (EAP, Trails, management comp, validation, discretionary options, etc). Also train on compliance and other FINRA and equity product issues.

  • Provide oversight and coordination of the processing of business (consolidation of functions) and servicing of existing client base. Develop an in-agency cross training program for administrative staff. Coordinate training with Local Firm Development for on-going administrative training.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Will manage a staff of 11 and will indirectly oversee an operation of 150+ personnel

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 7+ years of related business experience

  • FINRA series 7, 24, 63 or 66, Life and Health Insurance license, Variable Annuities license, as well as other industry designations

Qualifications Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience

  • Broad based knowledge of the various field and admin compensation plans.

  • Broad based knowledge of the FINRA and Corporate Ethics & Compliance requirements.

  • Knowledge of requirements and experience in dealing with issues that relate to field operations in such areas as Law Dept, Human Resources, Financial Control, Computer support, FINRA, Underwriting, MetGA, MSI, GenAm, NEF, Licensing & Registration, and Corporate Ethics and Compliance.

  • Requires knowledge and management skills necessary to integrate diverse activities.

  • Ability to evaluate and develop solutions to complex problems and situations.

  • Must exhibit superior communication, presentation and influencing skills, along with good interpersonal skills, strong organizational and time management skills,

  • Prior experience in a leadership role, managing and developing people, managing budgets, and experience with personal computers and software programs.
