Job Description:

Hi. We're ASOS.

ASOS burst on to the scene in 2000 and hasn't looked back. We now have 9 country specific websites, shipping to 240 countries around the world and offices in the UK, US, France, Germany, Australia and China. We have 75,000+ product lines with 2,000+ being added every week.

Our ambition is to be the world's no.1 online fashion destination for 20-somethings, therefore it is really important to us that we continue to attract top talent across the globe to help us realise our goals.

Job Requirements:

As a Senior Agile Delivery Manager, you lead and coach multi-disciplined teams of highly skilled engineers to achieve their ambitious goals, keep projects on track, teams healthy and key stakeholders informed. You are used to being parachuted into other teams to work with other Agile Delivery Managers to actively improve team performance when required.

Drawing on your management and team leadership expertise, you ensure the successful delivery of software into production across the teams you are responsible for that meet business requirements and timescales but is flexible enough to respond to risk and change, predominately using the SCRUM Agile framework though you can identify and apply Kanban or other frameworks as needed.

With your extensive experience acting as a Scrum Master or Scrum Coach, you use servant leadership, quiet confidence and excellent social skills to help coach the development teams you are responsible for to be self-organising, cross-functional and high-performing at a sustainable pace.

You are adept at changing your management style from the default role of Scrum Master to that of Line Manager so you can help your direct reports understand, plan for and deliver against SMART objectives, conduct meaningful 1-2-1s and reviews and create personal development plans to help individuals both within and across teams to learn and develop effectively.

Using your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you create and maintain strong working relationships with other platform, delivery and support teams along with leaders throughout the organisation to maintain excellent collaboration across all areas of IT development.

You understand technology and are able to earn the respect of the engineering team. This allows you to contribute and ask the right questions about the technology stack to ensure that the team adhere to high quality engineering practices to support our journey to the continuous delivery of well-crafted software.

About the role

These are the things you will do:

  • Lead the development efforts of autonomous and highly aligned platform teams towards their goals.
  • Regularly assess the team's maturity, health, and composition, relentlessly striving for team cohesion and delivery excellence.
  • Create transparency and predictability across your teams using appropriate tool and metrics including story mapping, roadmaps, sprint plans, burn down charts, cycle times, value stream maps and release plans.
  • Continuously assess your team's approach and adapt planning tools, Agile methods and communication to ensure a successful and sustainable delivery.
  • Mentor and coach your direct reports and others in the team, working closely with the competency leads, to develop them into top performing individuals who excel at what they do.
  • Grow your most talented direct reports, working closely with the competency leads, into top performing leads who excel at leading a team to achieve their goals.
  • Create systems that support effective and sustainable work across multiple teams within a platform.
  • Partner with leaders and teams across ASOS to share your knowledge and drive organizational change and improvement.
  • Drive continuous improvement of yourself, other Agile Delivery Managers and your teams.
  • Share your knowledge with other Agile Delivery Managers to enable them to reflect, learn and then apply this learning within their teams.
  • Line manage your direct reports by setting SMART objectives, performing regular 1-to-1's and create suitable Personal Development Plans.
