Reporting to: Commercial Finance Director

Where is it based: Greater London House, Mornington Crescent, London

The Role:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Planning & Forecasting

  • Work with Commercial Finance Director and CFO to establish and implement a Corporate Financial Planning discipline within ASOS
  • Lead the corporate 5 year plan, budget and monthly forecast process, ensuring that timetables are in place, assumptions are communicated and deadlines are understood and adhered to
  • Provide analysis of performance against budget/forecast and what that means in detail for the balance of the year, highlighting risks and opportunities and challenging business stakeholders where required
  • Compile corporate periodic reporting/analysis providing variances to forecast and budget and working with finance teams to ensure relevant commentary/insight is included in reporting packs
  • Prepare regular performance and forecast presentations to Board of Directors and Senior Management Team
  • Analyse current and past trends in corporate key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditure
  • Oversee, manage and drive forward the continued development of Budgeting, Forecasting, 5 Year Plan processes
  • Work with the Finance Systems team to ensure that required planning/forecasting systems are fit for purpose and correctly used by the finance team
  • Review internal forecasts versus analyst consensus and previous external guidance provided by the company and provide analysis that informs future guidance decisions
  • Ad-hoc analysis to develop insight that will lead to better business decisions
  • Hold regular review sessions with strategic project owners to monitor and report on strategic projects highlighting over and under performance accordingly

Job Requirements:

Experience

  • Previous experience of working in retail - preferably online
  • Strong experience of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow management
  • Experience of producing high quality analysis documents and communicating insight to senior management
  • Previous exposure to corporate planning process - preferably within a blue-chip
  • Experience of working in a group finance team and working closely with Operational Finance teams
  • Able to identify issues in systems and troubleshoot to identify solutions to maintaining an efficient budgeting, forecasting and reporting system
  • Skills

  • Team player who works for the success of the wider team
  • A thought leader and a people leader who can take others with them through what they do and the way they do it
  • Discrete and highly confidential
  • Gravitas and the ability to present to and influence senior management
  • Good sense of humour and just as happy working operationally, as you are strategically
  • Highly numerate
  • Ability to multi-task and must be well organized, attention to detail, high level of accuracy, ability to meet established deadlines, ability to work under pressure, ability to work independently with minimum supervision
    • Ability to collaborate and work in a fast-paced environment, adapting to rapid change
    • Excellent organizational, project management, written and oral communication skills
    • Strong customer relationship skills and ability to build strong relationships
