The Netflix applications are among the most widely used applications on the Android platform, and run on a wide variety of devices including phones & tablets but also TVs, set-top boxes and VR headsets.

As a member of the Android team, you will work closely with expert Android engineers at Netflix, Google and various OEMs. You will lead the verification of the next generation of features and devices, and ensure the quality of the Netflix experience remains at the highest level. You can expect variety and challenges as you work on different types of devices and collaborate with other engineering teams on cross-functional projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Own quality for key parts of the Netflix Android applications
  • Drive end-to-end testing of new features related to multimedia, UI, and networking
  • Ensure partner devices are reliable under stress conditions
  • Find issues and file tickets with the appropriate reproduction steps and debugging information
  • Triage bugs, assign priorities, and collaborate with engineering owners
  • Simulate various network conditions to accurately reflect user conditions
  • Run regression/smoke testing, and provide valued input to help release go/no-go decisions
Qualifications:

  • QA expertise with Android mobile applications and/or products
  • Proficient in creating and executing test plans based on understanding of feature goals and software architecture
  • Familiar with adb, fastboot or other Android tools needed to flash applications and firmware to devices
  • Understanding of how to read logs and extract the debug information needed for troubleshooting
  • Experience creating and maintaining test scripts (shell or other scripting languages)
  • Able to work independently and drive results in a fast-pace environment
  • Clear and efficient communication, comfortable with working with external partners
  • A minimum of 5 years of QA experience with at least 3 years on Android
Bonus if you have experience with:

  • Multimedia applications and/or components (framework, codec, libraries...)
  • Android TV or Fire TV applications/products
  • Configuring gateways to simulate various network performance characteristics (bandwidth, latency, etc.)
  • Android test automation frameworks
  • Java, C++, or advanced scripting languages
  • AB testing
