Job Description:

Senior Research Engineer - Computational Advertising

Los Gatos, California

Want to develop algorithms to help over a billion global households discover the shows they love on Netflix? The Computational Advertising Engineering team is looking for a passionate and talented applied machine learning expert to join us and lead the way in the research and development of the next generation of algorithms used to personalize Netflix ads and drive Netflix subscriber growth across the globe.

In this position, you will conduct applied research by conceptualizing, designing, implementing, and validating potential algorithmic improvements for (a) Real Time Bidding in Ad auctions (b) Targeting the relevant Netflix ad to the right user and (c) Personalizing Netflix signup flow to boost conversion rates.

Day to day work includes running offline experiments and building online A/B tests to run in production systems. You will need to prioritize tasks, exhibit strong leadership and communication skills, and thrive in a dynamic environment. To be successful in this role, you must have a strong machine learning background, be a quick learner, have proven software development skills, and work well in small cross-functional teams.

This is a high business impact role as any improvements you make directly impact our subscriber and revenue growth. If you are ready to make a difference and if you want to work on machine learning and data in a company that strongly believes in both, then we would love to talk to you.

Job Requirements:

  • At least five years of research experience with a successful track record of delivering quality results.
  • Expertise in machine learning with a broad understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning methods.
  • Strong algorithmic background.
  • Strong mathematical skills with knowledge of statistical methods.
