Position Overview:

As Director, Platform and Quality Management, you are a key member of the Enterprise Data Warehousing leadership team and will have the opportunity to build a new team with the goal to ensure stability, resiliency and quality as we support brands growth. The team will have three primary functions - EDW platform, tools and environment management through tool administration and governance, quality assurance and release management and EDW team performance management. Primary responsibilities of the position include building and leading a new team to ensure a stable and quality EDW platforms, tools and releases in a complex multi-tenant environment. You will achieve this through instituting strong DevOps processes and by leading a team of technical leaders, administrators, testers and engineers. This team will have a focus and passion for providing solid end-to-end planning, solutions and proactive management of our EDW initiatives, platforms and tools, including operations support of EDW tools (e.g. Informatica, Control-M, Appfluent, ViewPoint) as well analytics and presentation platforms (e.g. Tableau, Qlik, Business Objects) with the goal of enabling highly performant, scalable and reliable solutions. With an entrepreneurial drive and passion, you will provide expertise and technical direction while collaborating closely with architecture, project management, engineers, SMEs, operations teams, customers, and all levels of management to execute on strategic and tactical goals. You should love technology, and be passionate about the details of systems and technologies that span the purview of this role.
While a Director is not expected to be an expert at the keyboard level, a detailed understanding of and hands-on experience in EDW and BI technologies, development tools and methodologies (primarily Agile), design of highly available systems is critical to be successful in this position. The core objective of the e-Commerce Platform Technology Services, of which you will be a part, is to support delivery of infrastructure services by aligning customer and business requirements with fit-for-purpose solutions that work reliably, scale, are administratively efficient, and support global transparency and fulfillment-automation objectives.
General Responsibilities for Tool and Environment Administration:
  • Create a Configuration, Administration and Environment management team focused on BI and ETL tool administration, managing proactively EDW job control, toolset software upgrades, patches and hardware / capacity planning and management.
  • Team responsible for a master view of workloads on all platforms for proper planning and management of capacity, upgrades etc.
  • Leading collaboration with customers and other teams the definition of EDW Platform goals, SLAs and keeping up with functional and technical requirements for analytics and presentation platforms
  • Cross functionally develop with various teams and immediate team members to develop and engineer capabilities in support of business needs

  • Partner with internal customers and support teams to design and implement integrations among various processes and tools - includes detailed rules and procedures for identifying and resolving incidents related to the area of responsibility

  • Continuously assess accuracy, completeness and reliability of platforms in scope within the environment and develop strategies to co-develop and support both technical and business focused real-time dashboards of system health, events and trends.

  • Identifies potential areas where existing capabilities and processes require change and where new ones need to be developed, especially to meet future business demands

  • Work closely with direct reports to develop staffing requirements and ensure the continued development of engineering personnel

  • Seeks opportunities to make strategic decisions that affect cost, quality, and efficiencies to ensure successful outcomes

  • Assists in the management of budgets

  • Assures timely management/response to all issues and opportunities that can affect base business and projects
    General Responsibilities for Release Delivery:


  • Create Release Management function working with Product, PMO and Ops to create consolidated planning for EDW deployments, communicating all EDW activities to al 35+ user communities supported by EDW team

  • Responsible for management of EDW portfolio of releases or deployments to ensure transparent and high-quality releases to user community.

  • Release Management activities include defining, approving, planning, coordinating, communicating and directing execution of releases.

  • Maintains EDW portfolio release delivery calendar and publication to EDW user community.

  • Perform capacity planning activities for the EDW Team available demand/capacity and to help align releases and timeline.

  • Build, document and institute a Release Management process to be used by Operations Release Delivery, PMO teams and others involved in EDW releases.

  • Define, lead and drive standard pre-release meetings such as go-no-go meetings, Change Board, Release Management walk-thru meetings / documentation, Play-by-Play rehearsals, NOD / night of deployment etc.

  • Coordinate with the appropriate technology teams to ensure we are following ITIL process, teams impacted by our releases are notified or who need to be part of the release process are aware - for example, NOC, IMT, PMT, Enterprise Manageability and CIS.

  • Work closely with Engineering, QAT, Release Delivery / Operations to ensure all proper hand-offs are completed - play-by-plays, run books, or short-interval schedules are created.

  • Ultimately create additional deployment process for user community onboarding and deployments

  • The Release Manager must also be able to work effectively with and lead technical personnel (Engineering Team Managers, Systems Analysts, Developers, Testers), and clearly translate business priorities and objectives into technical solutions.

  • Ensures coordination of delivery teams across delivery domains (e.g. Technology, EWE, IT, Vendors, etc.)

  • Provide overall development project leadership, and direct project teams in the delivery of high-quality products within committed timeframes.

  • Ensure teams are focused on design and ensure comprehensive, cross functional design. Provide direction and leadership. Ensure that design is completed within committed timeframes.

  • Participate and if needed, drive operational planning with engineering, tools and operations teams for desired releases.

  • Provide troubleshooting and technical expertise in identifying issues that impact service delivery.

  • Provide Release Management requirements to engineering and ops teams.

  • Provide feedback and guidance to software engineering/development teams for operational best practices.

  • Documentation of operational aspects of applications for the team and tier partners.

  • Release Management leader supports engineering and operational teams with SMEs includes 24x7 systems, including on-call rotation duties

  • Utilizing your enterprise technical and process expertise to drive the improvements of production systems and deployment processes.

  • Utilizing your support expertise to set and improve existing standards for system administration, such as process, builds, monitoring, reporting and documentation.

    General Responsibilities for Test:



  • Create a Test function for all EDW Platform ensuring EDW releases and technology POCs are of high-quality

  • Work with Development, Test and Product Management to design and implement test and validation strategies for new features.

  • Contribute tests to automated test suites for functional, regression and performance testing within our continuous delivery (CD) system.

  • Write solid code to optimize the execution, scalability and maintenance of our automated tests.

  • Execute and manage manual and automated test and their results, log defects, report on test and defect metrics.

  • Debug and troubleshoot automated tests across our entire stack.

  • Take on the testing of specific features or components, sharing your knowledge with others, and coordinating efforts with offshore teams
