Title:

Project Manager

Job Description:

Position Description

Position Overview:
Expedia, Inc. is the world's leading online travel provider, helping millions of travellers per month easily plan and book travel. The Company aims to provide personalized service, the latest technology and the widest selection of vacation packages, flights, hotels, rental cars, cruises and in-destination activities, attractions, and services.

Expedia Affiliate Network (EAN) is the business-to-business arm of the Company. The group establishes partnerships with entities seeking access to the Company's inventory of hotels and other assets through their own web presence. The model is one of revenue sharing, and there is thus little in the way of upfront costs to the Company in accepting any customer. There are thus a scaled range of engagements depending on anticipated gross billing volume. For small customers EAN offers self-service signup and access to APIs, for mid-to-large customers there is an increasingly intense direct sales model and a willingness to customize a response to a request for proposal.

The Expedia Affiliate Network is looking for a Project Manager to work with a number of internal teams to deliver initiatives across our API and template solutions. You will be responsible for delivering initiatives on time and for ensuring all stakeholders are consulted and fully informed of delivery dates and solution details.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the day-to-day management of multiple project workstreams
  • Participate in and/or manage tasks throughout multiple project lifecycle phases including project planning, discovery, development, user acceptance testing, release and post-release
  • Liaise with internal business units, affiliates and users, facilitate workshops and document project and communication plans
  • Work with business stakeholders, keeping them informed of any risks and/or issues
  • Ensure all project tasks are executed within budget, on time and to high standards
  • Manage risk around project timelines, budget, scope, and quality
  • Provide day-to-day support and troubleshooting of issues and drive to resolution
  • Communicate and coordinate fixes and deployments through appropriate technology and business teams
  • Provide on-going communication of status and risks to management teams internally as needed and garner support for changes in scope, schedule, or budget
  • Create and implement any required support processes into the existing business
  • Ensure project documentation and support information is completed to a high standard throughout the project lifecycle
  • Provide release support through stability and ongoing support of solutions post-deployment to ensure transitions are successful

Qualifications :
  • A bachelor's degree is required
  • Project management qualification is preferable (PMP, PMI-ACP, PgMP)

Work Experience and Education Guidelines:
  • Must have experience of working on large scale financial projects (preferably including experience with Oracle).
  • Experience of translating between business and technology with a proven ability to work cross functionally to drive the high level solutions as well as resolve detailed operational issues
  • Experience of working with multiple worksteams including product, development, marketing, sales, training, call centre, fraud, partner:connect, legal, finance, and analytics
  • High degree of competency with project management and methodology including: scoping, issue & risk identification, general management, tracking dependencies and milestones, user acceptance testing, and communication of overall project status
  • Proven project management experience working with agile development teams in a fast paced environment
  • Experience managing small - medium scale international projects
  • Ability to facilitate the resolution of challenging business/technology problems

Core Competencies:
  • Goal setting/short term planning: Achieves results by setting goals using quality planning, analysis and decision making. Adapts and copes successfully with changing circumstances.
  • Managing complexity: Is able to work effectively in a highly complex, diverse, changing environment. Adapts well to and is energized by change whilst maintaining focus on key business goals and personal objectives.
  • Relationship building: Builds effective relationships through positive communication that motivates and influences others. Is an honest, trustworthy, valued team member, and actively involved in achieving team objectives.

Job Requirements:

  • Personal Effectiveness: Produces outstanding results both professionally and personally by being proactive and committed. Continually focuses on achieving positive results contributing to EAN's business success.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills: Clearly and effectively conveys information through a variety of means.
