Basic duties of the position are listed below, however, employees are expected to perform other duties or to accept other assignments to compensate for workload shifts as the need arises.

  • Disassembles and inspects parts and equipment to determine the cause of improper operations. Makes a repair through the use of replacement parts and machine fabrications. Reassembles equipment with new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates machines periodically and performs other preventive/predictive maintenance work required to assure the efficient operation of all equipment.
  • Performs minor and major overhauls of utility and ancillary equipment by completely disassembling, repairing, and reassembling equipment to proper operation condition.
  • Provides technical guidance to outside contractors or servicemen, as required when they are performing work on utility and ancillary equipment.
  • Prepares accurate GMP acceptable documentation recording measured information for files retention.
  • Must be able to participate in and/or provide direct specialized training to any MMD employee requiring it.
  • Studies Equipment and improves operation through design and redesign of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Redlines and prepares drawings, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Prepares and performs technical writing of numerous technical documents such as calibration instructions and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Performs rigging and millwright functions in the receipt and installation of new equipment.
  • Uses technical information, reads and interprets drawings, diagrams, and schematics, and carries out maintenance troubleshooting and repairs.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications Education Minimum Requirement:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred Associate in Applied Science degree which includes technical courses in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation areas.
  • Successful completion of HVAC/Refrigeration vocational school.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 5 years minimum experience in the HVAC/Refrigeration maintenance arena.
  • This position requires being flexible to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift and weekends. Primary 2nd Shift.
  • Ability to calibrate Temperature Controllers, Load Cells, Speed Controllers and Pressure Gauges.
  • Demonstrate understanding of 4-20ma control loops.
  • Ability to develop, modify and implement electrical schematics for hard-wired control systems, interlocks, etc.
  • Ability to test electrical/electronic equipment and read, interpret electrical schematics and troubleshoot from these drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and blue prints and have ability to identify electrical components.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Military HVAC/Refrigeration preferred.
  • Ability to trouble shoot using ladder logic program.
  • Ability to force/monitor I/O for trouble shooting purposes.
  • Ability to perform I/O searches and cross-referencing using I/O tables.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic electrical knowledge of AC/DC. AC/DC drive units, servo motors, encoders, electric brake and clutch, Low - High voltage, Basic wiring, motor identification (1ph/3ph), electrical soldering ability, field devices (proximity devices, photo eyes, relays, solenoids, etc.)
