We are seeking an experienced Anatomic Toxicologic Pathologist and people manager to join our pathology management team who:
  • Is an excellent communicator, practices and promotes high ethical standards and integrity, makes rapid and disciplined decisions and has an outstanding track record of driving results, fostering collaboration and building talent.
  • Is a quick learner and an effective analytical thinker and problem solver.
  • Can lead a team of toxicologic pathologists and scientific staff providing guidance and support to promote maximal effectiveness and optimal delivery and communication of results and expert interpretations to our customers.
  • Has a deep understanding of and experience working in a good laboratory practices (GLP) environment, provides thoughtful scientific guidance and oversight for the planning and execution of postmortem activities and can expertly review postmortem data and reports.
  • Can collaboratively work with the Pathology management team and other stakeholders inside and outside of SALAR to develop and implement strategies that maximize scientific and operational effectiveness and assure maximal compliance with internal and external expectations and standards.
  • Actively pursues their own career development, publishes their work and expands their leadership skills and scientific knowledge as well as effectively partners and helps others, including their direct reports, realize their full potential.
This position also offers the opportunity to lead and actively participate in the drug discovery and development process as non-clinical safety representative to project teams (Compound Leader) in various therapeutic areas and to participate on committees external to Merck that foster the science of veterinary pathology or drug development and/or influence regulatory policy to promote more effective and efficient drug development.

  • Experience as a non-clinical safety representative to drug discovery and/or development project teams
  • Authored regulatory submissions including responses to questions from regulatory agencies.
