  • Manage development teams that are of moderate complexity.
  • Guide teams through effective execution of management-approved strategic plans for assigned projects, including ensuring risk management plans are fully developed, contracts are agreed upon and adhered to, change control procedures are followed when significant program deviations are encountered, communications within and external to the team are effective, and approved team resources and budgets are appropriately planned and managed.
  • Ensure project data are accurately reported in databases and understood by development team members, including information used to derive costs, schedule, resources, and any other data pertinent to creation and management of project plans.
  • Monitor progress of project plans and communicate variances to plan to appropriate parties.
  • Learn from new experiences and apply these learnings in new situations or team settings.
  • Ensure that team meetings have structure and clear purposes and goals, facilitate meetings effectively, and clearly communicate decisions and action items to team members and relevant parties outside of the team.
  • Monitor team dynamics to ensure optimal team performance, provide feedback to teams on their effectiveness, and take appropriate action to correct problems within a team stemming from miscommunication, differences of opinion, misaligned objectives, inexperience, etc.
  • With guidance from a more senior GPM professional, resolve conflicts and issues within teams.
  • Provide significant input into the monitoring of GPM processes and tools used to support the teams, as appropriate, advocate for and contribute to the success of change / process improvements when warranted.
  • Work effectively with other GPM professionals to ensure successful execution of development team strategies and project plans.


Business Process Improvements / PM Talent Development (approx. 10%)
  • Ensure that GPM-owned, managed or affiliated processes are evaluated and feedback is provided to process owners regularly.
  • Participate in other GPM and MRL continuous improvement activities, which may involve influencing areas / senior management outside of GPM.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects led by areas outside of GPM that have a significant impact on the work and / or effectiveness of GPM.
  • Provide mentoring and technical oversight to Project Specialists working on common projects.
  • Provide input into key departmental initiatives and / or departmental administrative activities.
  • Take relevant training courses to increase knowledge of the discipline of project management, understanding of product development in the pharmaceutical industry and therapeutic area as well as to improve leadership skills.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications Education:
  • Required:
    • Bachelor's degree
  • Preferred:
    • Degree concentration in a scientific-related discipline
    • Advanced scientific degree (e.g., MS, PharmD, Ph.D.) or a combination of equivalent experience and training preferred.


Required:
  • Two (2) years of experience in PM or related role/expertise in pharma and/or biotech preferred.
  • Product development experience required, in a pharmaceutical / biotech industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and accomplish goals in team settings.
  • Ability to apply prior experiences and learnings in new settings, even if these are unfamiliar, capable of problem-solving by means of entrepreneurial approach and a dedicated focus on setting and delivering on key goals and objectives in a timely fashion in a scientific business model setting.
  • History of operational excellence, ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and networks, ability to define solutions and formulate and execute on actions across a global organization.
