The Global Medical Director (GMD) holds primary responsibility for the development and execution of Global Medical Affairs Plans for their franchise which are aligned to the GHH Brand Book, and MRL Late Development Plan. They work with the Regional Directors Medical Affairs (RDMAs) for direction for country medical affairs activities for in-line and late stage development products. They work with Global Medical Information & Operations on the global repository of educational, training and medical information resources. The GMD provides strategic medical guidance to the Global Brand Leader and their Global Marketing team. The GMD coordinates Scientific Leader event planning from the GHH perspective in collaboration with the Global Directors Scientific Affairs (GDSA) from the MRL perspective. The GMD liaises with new headquarters initiatives (e.g. Customer Centricity). The GMD reports to the Global Med Affairs Strategy Leader or VP Global Medical Strategy Organization.

Qualifications

Education:

  • MD, PhD or PharmD

Required:

  • Minimum of five (5) years pharmaceutical industry experience in US or Global Headquarters in osteoporosis with proven track record of contribution to global commercial, medical and/or clinical development strategies
  • Minimum of five (5) years customer expertise (scientific leaders, payers, medical professional organizations, public groups) in osteoporosis in the US.
  • Proven ability to effectively present to senior management, with public groups and to scientific leaders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, communication (written as well as oral), results oriented project management, facilitation and consultative skills to influence decision making.
  • Strong prioritization skills and ability to understand how decisions fit into the broader context of corporate strategies
  • In a matrix environment, able to effectively collaborate across divisions

Preferred:

  • Specialty training and clinical experience in osteoporosis
  • Minimum of five (5) years clinical and/or research experience (incl publications) in osteoporosis
  • Strategic thinking, specifically related to life-cycle management strategy and execution
  • Experience in market access/health economy is an asset
