The MRTL leads and develops the skillset of a team of market researchers with varying levels of experience, demonstrating appropriate situational leadership skills and inspires the team to deliver on the business.Personally leads and/ or directs team members in conducting MR projects to support Merck's Acute Care business including the supporting the antibiotic team, critical care team, surgery team and new products team.
  • Provides direction for design and refinement of marketing strategies and tactics based upon customer and business insights.
  • Addresses needs at both a strategic and tactical level, encompassing US and key global Markets. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of geographic (eg: regulatory and cultural) differences and the implications of those differences on the business.
  • Guides the ongoing development of Merck Customer and Brand Marketing, including Global Buying Process, Customer Segmentation/Prioritization, Messaging, and Communication Materials for the businesses.
  • Is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality across their team and for ensuring that market research studies, analyses of data, and approaches are implemented with excellence.
  • Ensures all appropriate global and local market research procedures, Merck policies, and legal laws are followed in the compliant execution of marketing research.
  • As part of the Global Customer & Brand Insights (GCBI) Extended Leadership Team is responsible for leading or participating in establishing GC&BI best practices and driving implementation within their team.
  • Ensures that all team members have appropriate development plans designed to advance their functional and business acumen for greater impact on the business and career progression. Coaches each employee, providing them with the feedback, skills and support necessary to enable them to be successful.
  • Works with Global Customer & Brand Insights Leadership to ensure that GCBI support for their therapeutic franchise is effectively and efficiently managed, including:
    • Appropriate resourcing (plan, budget and people) supporting business objectives through the annual plan process and periodic workload reviews
    • Managing/ refining research plans (primary and secondary) and budgets to meet objectives/ targets
    • Proactively manages the design, recommendation, execution and presentation of comprehensive primary and secondary research supporting business objectives
    • Integrates and coordinates research across global, regional, and country teams and internal working groups
    • Responsible for smooth functioning of their team and coordination of efforts among team members

Job Requirements:

Qualifications Education:
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in mathematics, statistics, sociology, psychology, marketing, market research or related field.
  • Preferred: MBA or Master's Degree in a discipline with heavy marketing or Market Research orientation is highly desirable.


Required:
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in pharmaceutical market research and/ or related experience (eg: marketing, sales, marketing/ sales support).
  • Minimum of 5 years market research experience required in pharmaceuticals, vaccines, or similar.
Preferred:
  • Demonstrate flexibility/ adaptability to effectively manage in matrixed/ complex organization, orientation toward collaboration/ teamwork
  • Demonstrate/Developing a high degree of performance in managerial and coaching skills
