The incumbent will ensure that the security solutions designed, engineered and deployed are in alignment with security architecture and strategy, and support Merck's policies and standards, best practices, as well as meeting performance, scalability and availability requirements. The incumbent will create a standard set of requirements, technical designs, recommended configurations and drawings necessary to design, implement and deploy our current and future state security capabilities. The incumbent will develop and execute various tests and procedures on a variety of security equipment to ensure that security systems are operating as designed. The incumbent will work with a variety of suppliers and partners specifically focusing on the technical solution details, perform research, monitor and report on security technology trends and requirements, such as emerging standards for new security technologies and opportunities. The role also requires assistance to the security incident response team when called upon, as well as requiring 3rd level support for production security solutions.

The selected candidate must be able to think and act independently, and be able to work with other colleagues around the world. The candidate must be able to keep up-to-date with current and emerging security solutions, threats and trends and be able to develop and present recommendations for the adoption of this information into an overall security solution strategy and roadmap

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working within an information technology area
  • Demonstrated experience designing, deploying and supporting enterprise cybersecurity solutions in a large corporation
  • Specific experience working with, developing or supporting at least two of these: data protection security technologies, full disk encryption, file/folder encryption, network transport encryption, sMIME and PKI environments,
  • Specific experience with at least one or more of the following: Intel/McAfee security products: ePO, VirusScan, HIPS, Network and Endpoint DLP, SiteAdvisor, Database Activity Monitoring, Application Control, and McAfee Web Gateway
  • Demonstrated experience with advanced security solution troubleshooting is required.
  • Possess and demonstrate strong leadership qualities, be highly self-motivated and driven, and be able to handle and prioritize multiple projects and efforts at the same time


Preferred:
  • Proven and demonstrated technical skills working with a diverse range of IT technologies and products.
  • Experience with McAfee Endpoint Security and Cisco Network Security solutions (ASA Firewalls, AMP, IronPort, FirePower/Sourcefire)
  • Able to adapt and rapidly learn new technologies
  • Basic knowledge of networking protocols and operation, client system operating systems including Macintosh, Windows, Linux, iOS
  • Ability to build strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders
  • A deep technical understanding of IT, passion for problem solving and a desire to learn
