IT Strategy Realization Leader - Intent

Job Description:

Description Merck & Co., Inc., known as Merck in the US and Canada and MSD across the rest of the world, is a global health care leader with a diversified portfolio of prescription medicines, vaccines and animal health products. Today, we are building a new kind of healthcare company - one that is ready to help create a healthier future for all of us. Our ability to excel depends on the integrity, knowledge, imagination, skill, diversity and teamwork of an individual like you. To this end, we strive to create an environment of mutual respect, encouragement and teamwork. As part of our global team, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with talented and dedicated colleagues while developing and expanding your career. On its path to becoming the best healthcare company in the world, Merck is transforming all aspects of our business and culture. We will do this by driving strategic organizational alignment and being more customer-centric. IT plays a pivotal role in Merck's transformation. There is unprecedented demand for enterprise information and technology coming from new markets, new products and new divisions. We are in the process of shifting our IT agenda from one enabling bottom line to top line growth, where IT is embedded in revenue-generating services/products and solutions, and IT-based invention causes disruptive change in industry profit pools. Moreover, this transformative period occurs when most IT budgets are being consumed with running the business, pinching the resources available for innovation. The challenge is shifting from implementation to innovation on a lower base of investment. This shift will be supported in part through strategy realization with focus on managing strategic intent, operating model simplicity, workforce and workforce planning, culture, and change management.

We are seeking strategy realization leads in our IT Planning and Innovation group who will work in service of the Office of the CIO to clarify the intent of the IT Strategy, orchestrate and mechanize change and alignment across organizational architecture, operating model, talent bases, culture, governance and incentives. These roles are global in nature, working closely with strategy and planning leaders across divisional and enterprise IT.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide "Strategic Intent" to ensure organizational efforts around ONE IT, Networked Leadership, three-Hub Model, Platform Strategy are understood and driving cultural change
  • Evangelize "simplicity" as a driving force for change
  • Engage and contribute on transformation work stream teams to enable strategy realization
  • Maintain "holistic view" of transformation and bridge connections across work streams and teams to drive realization
  • Support the development and implementation of the near- and long-term roadmap for strategy realization
  • Orchestrate and facilitate collaborative sessions to drive strategy realization and adoption
  • Convene, educate and engage key stakeholders on progress to plan
  • Support and engage IT leaders in strategy realization and promote their involvement
  • Facilitate tight linkage with strategy development, portfolio, Applied Technology, and innovation
  • Enhance collaboration, externally across business clients, and internally across IT
  • Contribute to the evolution of the IT transformation under way
  • Ability to learn, evolve and adjust
  • Support the development of workforce and workplace plans in support of strategy
  • Support innovation as a path to breakthrough thinking
  • Support IT Marketing & Communications in socializing the Transformation
