The successful candidate will impact the build-up of Merck's interdisciplinary state-of-the-art Chemical Biology capabilities and will be a key contributor to our Chemoproteomics efforts actively contributing to run our Proteomics laboratory. She or he will develop, implement and execute high quality mass spectrometry-based quantitative chemoproteomics protocols and workflows to drive optimal results in a fast paced environment. Broad deliverables include the use of chemical probes to explore the proteome and research mechanisms of action, to discover and provide functional validation of novel drug targets and characterize the in-cell engagement of their modulators, interrogate cell phenotypes, signaling pathways and targets, as well as contributing to the identification and characterization of novel protein-ligand and protein-protein interactions from therapeutically significant biological samples using state-of-the-art chemoproteomics methods. The ideal candidate must be proactive, able to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with various project teams, across scientific disciplines and functions, bringing together genetics, cellular pharmacology, chemistry and molecular biology to contribute to iterative experimental design and mechanistic hypotheses generation through the interpretation of complex proteomics data. He or she needs to demonstrate strong desire for executing on strategies aimed at fundamental understanding of biology working closely with scientists in the Chemical Biology unit and with colleagues in Pharmacology, Disease Area Biology and Genetics&Pharmacogenomics Dept. to identify, characterize novel targets coming from genetics and disease pathway and phenotype exploration.
