Overview of The Department: We're looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to work on fast evolving mobile commerce platform serving tens of millions of cardholders around the world. You'll be part of the Mobile Engineering building interactive experiences at all touchpoints of a consumer's journey - whether it be before, at, or after the time of purchase. The products range from new payment vehicles and partnerships with other payment entities to interactive mobile experiences. We want someone who is obsessive about API design, comes up with elegant solutions to technical challenges and works well within and across teams. You should be familiar with modern software development methodologies, and able to dive deep and rapidly iterate on ideas despite ambiguity.

Job Responsibilities: - Serve as a member of an agile team that drives user story analysis and elaboration, designs and develops software applications, and tests and builds automation tools. - Utilize best-of-breed technologies to build a layered, component-based, service-oriented architecture over existing American Express technologies. - Be highly motivated and maintain a positive,

Job Requirements:

Required Skills/Qualifications: - 6+ years software development experience. - A BS or MS degree in computer science, computer engineering or other technical discipline, or equivalent work experience. - Proven record of designing, developing, and maintaining web services , API design and implementation (REST/SOAP). - Familiarity with security principles, cryptography (hands-on experience is a plus). - Experience with async patterns, multithreaded programming, queues, distributed architecture, SOA. - Experience building and supporting distributed highly available software. - Experience with traditional RDBMS databases (noSQL is a plus). - Demonstrated experience with Agile or other rapid application development methodologies. - Ability to think abstractly and deal with ambiguous/under-defined problems. - High energy, interest in new technologies and tools, industry best practices, passion for shipping quality software fast and frequently. - Attention to detail and strong organization skills.
