This highly technical Engineering Director of Digital Services will lead a software product delivery team of approximately 10 employee engineers and a flexible number of contractors located in Phoenix, AZ. The product team is accountable for delivery of web portal experiences supporting the creation and maintenance of Email Marketing Campaigns, Personalized Offers, product engagement requests, and an associated DevOps ELK Stack. The portals support all the global American Express marketing teams and lines of business. The Phoenix based Director will partner with the Digital Customer Experience product owners and business stakeholders to develop and execute, product vision, backlog, and architecture supporting cross-channel marketing and growth strategies across 21+ global proprietary markets. Responsibilities include: - Development of the Personalization Offer Entry portal, the Email Marketing Campaign portal, and the strategy to converge these tools into a holistic, multi-channel marketing creation user experience - Enhancement and support of the Central engagement portal used by business stakeholders to raise product development requests - Expansion of a DevOps ELK Stack across the Digital Services portfolio - Working with product owners and business stakeholders to improve the user experience and efficiency of campaign / offer creation - Partnering with technical leaders across a broad suite of marketing capabilities to drive a consistent taxonomy around marketing campaign attributes - Defining platform architecture, uplifting existing portals using modern web frameworks, and synthesizing continuous user experience feedback - Supporting and transforming the Digital Services portfolio into an Agile/Lean, product-centric organization - Direct end-to-end responsibility for product delivery, budget, resource capacity, availability and performance targets - Leading a team in an environment which includes modern web frameworks, continuous integration/continuous delivery tool chains, and the full software development lifecycle

Job Requirements:

The Director candidate must be highly technical with proven experience delivering, Web Applications, Service Oriented Architecture, and the evaluation / integration of 3rd party and open source software. Additional experience and qualifications include: - Proven ability to lead a team in Agile/Scrum-based product driven development - Experience directly leading a technical team of engineers - Hands-on knowledge of current technology standards/trends coupled with desire to continually expand personal knowledge/skills - Experience designing scalable solutions which easily extend to additional markets/languages - Innovative problem solver with the ability to generate and implement a strategy - Experience re-platforming existing applications, including, infrastructure, architecture and frameworks - Delivery leveraging Web Development technologies - JEE, Web Services, SOAP, REST, Node.js, JavaScript, AngularJS, JQuery - Experience designing and delivering high availability/high performance secure digital applications - Experience identifying, defining and implementing technical design/coding standards - Experience implementing and utilizing continuous integration, orchestration, and delivery tool chains, including test automation frameworks - Ability to establish and maintain relationships with other business and technology leaders - Strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with the ability to tailor communication to all levels of an organization - Financial management skills and responsibility for financial plans - Demonstrated ability to debate ideas/strategy, comfortable managing constructive conflict, and not afraid to challenge the status quo - Demonstrated ability to lead in a matrixed organization through a combination of influence, partnership, and authority - Ability to hire, motivate, and grow a high performing team of subject matter experts delivering on strategic objectives while continuously evolving and improving - Computer Science or Engineering degree preferred
