The Global Online Travel Team is part of American Express' Travel and Lifestyle Services organisation. They are responsible for developing, growing and managing the US & International online travel business, including the online travel strategy, strategic partnerships, user experience, product management, market expansion and distribution. There is an opportunity to join an exciting and dynamic team leading the effort to transform our online travel business. As the industry continues to grow, online is a key channel for consumers to plan and book their travel. Our aim is to create a seamless Cardmember online journey, which is tailored to the needs of Cardmembers across markets. We have the opportunity to drive Cardmember engagement and spend by enabling a competitive product, value proposition and industry leading site with unique exclusive benefits for our Cardmembers. As the Director, International Online Travel, you will help develop the strategy for international market growth and lead the delivery and implementation of new online travel platform enhancements, working closely with the US and international product teams, technologies, 3rd parties, markets, marketing, call centers, and operations to ensure a seamless and integrated customer experience across markets, channels and products. Responsibilities:
  • Helping to define the local market strategy
  • Developing a compelling user experience and product, differentiating the site value by closely linking to the relevant card benefits
  • Laying out the strategy & framework for managing and delivering multiple launches and market enhancements
  • Developing sound business cases to support the investment to expand international online travel
  • Creating and deploying new capabilities to drive business growth
  • Identifying cross market opportunities, learning's and synergies
  • Managing key strategic partnerships and internal and external partner/ supplier/ vendor relationships
  • Managing a team with regional responsibility for a set of markets where they are the liaison between the American Express Travel and Lifestyle Services teams and our Global Network and International Card Services market and the central teams
  • Identifying platform opportunities to increase distribution
  • Acting as the markets central point of contact and resource for the central online travel team

Job Requirements:

Skills Required:
  • Previous experience of working within the international travel industry.
  • A strong and experienced leader, with previous experience in managing international teams with demanding work streams.
  • The ability to coordinate resources within and across teams, inspire creativity and share critical expertise to deliver goals.
  • Extensive knowledge of travel industry market trends, competition, customer needs and products.
  • Proven track record in managing large complex web products with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship management skills, the ability to manage both internal and external partner relations while promoting a creative and collaborative environment.
  • Proven experience in product development and web product development.
  • An experienced project manager, used to managing multiple priorities to deadline.
  • Proven experience in delivering and marketing multiple new products and services across different markets.
  • Experience in building new features and capabilities using LEAN/AGILE methodology
  • The ability to interpret and assess Cardmember needs, and put those needs first when developing products and strategies.
  • Strong business development and analytical skills.
  • Self motivated, creative, enthusiastic, positive attitude and results driven with a strong will to win.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo, drive change and creatively problem solve.
